While we’re all fighting Zoom fatigue, virtual meetings are here to stay, even as lawyers and clients are reporting to the office. It’s always critical to make an excellent impression, with clients, partners, and colleagues, especially in these uncertain economic times. Now is the crucial time to remind yourself of these tips:
✔️ Always treat a Zoom meeting as you would an in-person meeting. Contribute, smile, and speak with confidence, authority, and courtesy.
✔️Show up on time.
✔️Be sure to use the mute function when you’re not speaking. Background noise is discourteous and distracting. As tempting as it is, don’t multitask.
✔️When working from home, remember that appearance counts. Wear professional attire.
✔️Minimize background visual distractions by using a Zoom background or a screen provided by your firm.
✔️Be sure your light source is in front of you, or purchase a ring light or other light available to enhance your appearance.
✔️If you’ve called the meeting, make it short and distribute materials to be discussed in advance.
If you find yourself at a disadvantage during virtual and in-person meetings because you lack confidence or feel other issues are standing in your way, I’m ready and willing to help. I have a proven history of guiding lawyers to reach their potential, and I can coach you to get to the next level and beyond.
