Sheryl A. Odentz, M.A., Ed.M., CMF, has worked for over 20 years advising attorneys on how to take ownership of their careers and teaching them to reach their optimal potential. She has also advised other high-level professionals within the legal field and executives from a variety of different industries.
Ms. Odentz’s training in career psychology along with her sales and marketing experience have given her insights into her clients’ individual needs, guiding them toward success in their careers.
She has worked in senior positions for human resources management consulting firms, King, Chapman, Broussard & Gallagher and The Empower Group (a subsidiary of the global giant Manpower), helping clients to successfully navigate career transitions both within and beyond the legal profession. In addition, she held the role of Marketing Director for North America at The Empower Group. Ms. Odentz has also recruited for Elaine P. Dine, one of the nation’s top legal recruiters. Furthermore, she has worked in marketing and sales for Group W Satellite Communications music television network (TNN) and Lowe Lintas & Partners, an international advertising agency.
Ms. Odentz is the founder and president of Progress in Work, a career management firm that helps attorneys with outplacement, executive coaching, business development and career counseling. She is certified as an executive coach from i-Coach NY and has been bestowed the honor of Fellow by the Institute of Career Certification International, the preeminent body certifying career management practitioners. A Fellow is one of the highest levels that can be achieved.
She received her psychological counseling degrees, with honors, specializing in business and industry from Columbia University and her undergraduate bachelor degree in music concentrating in opera from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. She has spoken at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and has written about career issues for various legal publications. She is a member of the Association of Career Professionals International and the Legal Marketing Association.
Her combined experiences in career psychology, the performing arts, deep knowledge of the legal profession and marketing and sales have helped fuel her compassion for assisting others to find and develop within their professional niche.
